Small Bar: Cardiff’s New Craft Beer Bar

A patisserie and prosecco bar opened in Cardiff this summer, but if the fizzy stuff isn’t for you then the city’s new craft beer bar may be more up your street. However, there’s a catch: you can’t actually order a pint. Find out more about Small Bar here.

An Opportunity to Experiment

Rather than pulling pints, the staff at Small Bar will be serving measures of beer to encourage customers to experiment.

If you’re not the type to take the plunge and order a pint without knowing if you’ll like it, Small Bar is the perfect place for you to wet your whistle. You’ll have the chance to try thirds, half pints and two third measures so, if you don’t like something, at least you haven’t wasted a full pint!

A Huge Success

Small Bar is owned and run by husband and wife Bruce and Hannah Gray. The couple are based in Bristol, which is where they first set up Small Bar, and have plans to open another branch in London.

Bruce has worked in bars since he was 18 so it’s no surprise that Small Bar is taking off. The former professional golfer has a wealth of experience in the industry and has taken on a ‘no pint glasses’ approach for a number of reasons.

Other than the fact that smaller measures encourage people to be adventurous with their choice of beer, they also enable to customers to enjoy beer in the best condition possible. The husband and wife team seem to know their onions!

A Wide Selection of Beers to Choose From

There are over 30 beers to choose from so you’re completely spoilt for choice. However, thanks to the small measures, you can try a fair few in one visit. The majority of the beers served at Cardiff’s Small Bar are from the UK, but the selection available constantly changes therefore you’ll try different beers each time you swing by!

A Tasty Bite to Eat

While, ultimately, Small Bar serves beers, there is a menu available so you can order food when you get peckish. The chefs in the kitchen bake two different types of bread in-house and make pizza dough bases from scratch, so you can wash down your beer with a freshly made sandwich or a delicious pizza!

If you choose to live in the Welsh capital then this craft beer bar will be on your doorstep, in addition to an abundance of other top bars and amazing eateries.
